You're Fired!

So much for predictions. Of course, by simply reading profiles, you can't expect too much. However, since fantasy football is over, I felt I would take a stab at fantasy Apprentice. Todd was actually one I picked to make it all the way to the final 2, but reading his profile didn't clue me in on his non-existent leadership abilities. Alex did make a mistake by suggesting only 2 cashiers, but ultimately, it is Todd's responsibility to recognize the undercapacity at the point-of-sale and correct Alex's misjudgment. When Trump got excited over finding out about Alex's mistake, I really thought he was going to snap and fire him immediately. He's made these emotional mistakes before, so I was pleasantly surprised to see George save Alex and point out that Todd is the one who actually failed. I think Trump, George, and Carolyn nailed this one on the head. At best, Danny is difficult to manage, and Alex can be led, but Todd is not a leader, and therefore not the Apprentice. Good call Trump, you actually made the right decision. As I predicted though, Danny is a little too artsy fartsy and he won't last much longer, thankfully, because so far he is the most annoying candidate in the history of The Apprentice. I was very impressed with John, and I like Brian too. I'm questioning my sleeper pick, Erin, because she's a little too noticable. The winners so far have been guys who have stayed under the radar for most of the game, and I don't see Erin controlling her emotions or mouth. Another I predicted to do well, Angie, didn't impress me too much, so maybe I should just nix my whole prediction. So far I'm as good at fantasy Apprentice as I am fantasy football! HA! Overall though, I think this is going to be a great season. I really like that one team is educated and one is streetsmart, and I find it pretty amazing that the streetsmarts earn 3 times as much money as the booksmarts!! Makes me wonder if I wasted 6 years of my life!

Jenn and I have had this bad habit (but oh so good) the last month or so. About 2-3 times per week, I go up to El Chico's for some carry-out queso and chips! I'm sure we've gained...uh, I mean...I've gained probably 20 pounds in the last month. But the funny thing is, the bartenders are getting to know me. Tuesday night, the blonde girl said "Hello again!" and tonight it was the same girl and she said "The usual?" HA! The bad thing is, we normally don't finish an entire bowl of it, but tonight we did, and there was still 20 minutes left of The Apprentice!! Oh well. See, I know I NEED to drop about 30 pounds, but I just don't want to, and I can't make myself exercise, stop drinking sodas, or watch what I eat. The last time I ran at night, it was cold, and I got sick for 2 weeks. Which reminds me...maybe someone out there knows the answer to this: some people say the cold can't make you sick, but it's no secret that if you stay outside in the cold for any length of time without a coat on, you're probably going to get sick. So can someone who believes the cold can't make you sick please explain this to me? Well, I'm going to bed now. I think my next blog will be about George Dubya's plan to partially privatize social security. I realize it may be a boring topic to some (I won't mention names Alyssa), but I'm sure others of you have some great opinions on the issue. By the way, this has become extremely addicting, and has started to get in the way of my job searching! It is common for me to devote an excessive amount of time to something new for a short period of time, and then I back off. This being the case, I would expect in a week or so that my comments and blogs will begin to decrease significantly. Did I just hear a sigh of relief from someone??

HIGHLIGHT OF THE DAY
I think I will actually share a "Disappointment of the Day" today. Representatives from the NHL and the NHL Players' Association met today for the second day in a row to discuss the NHL lockout. I couldn't help but be hopeful that some progress would be achieved through their discussions, but Bill Daly's (NHL Executive Vice President & Chief Legal Officer) statement shattered any last hope I had for a partial season this year. Here's his statement in case you haven't heard: "We had two good days of discussion. We continue to have some strong philosophical differences. The lines of communication are open, and we're going to continue to work on it. We don't have anything scheduled." Without hockey to watch, I might have to start watching another show. My interest has been sparked by Alias. I have never seen it, but it seems like a lot of people watch it regularly.

Ok what is this point out that Alyssa is a dumb blonde day, I told you I am not dumb I just don't fill my head with stuff that I could care less about. Now as far as the motivation to diet and excersise, I feel your pain. What you need is a working out partner. It makes the excrusiating excersise go by faster and you are obligated to meat each other. Also switch to diet. Don't roll your eyes. I hated diet soda to but after a couple weeks you really can't tell the difference. That alone should be good for ten pounds. Because you are a guy and guys lose weight faster then I can hit a sale rack at Gap!

I'm sorry, you mentioned diet and I had to go throw up. A few years ago, I very faithfully drank a gallon or more of water per day over a six month period, and without exercising or changing my diet, I lost 18 pounds. I just need to drink water again. I've tried to get a partner, but I can't run or exercise until late at night. Thanks Alyssa for your suggestions, honestly, but no matter what idea you come up with, I will find an excuse to make it not work! :)

I love the new picture of you and Jen - sure wish mine was that big!! LOL! I haven't read the part about Apprenctice b/c I didn't watch it yet but I will agree with Alyssa on switching to Diet - I lost 10 lbs and I used to swear I would never drink diet - now I can't stand regular. And if you look at all the calories/fat/carbs on the back of a regular can as opposed to Diet that has ZERO you may switch too! Sorry I'm sure you didn't want this blog to be about your diet but - oh well!

Thanks! That is a picture of us on our 8th wedding anniversary on the Accademia bridge in Venice, Italy! Hurry and watch Apprentice and give me your feedback! You lost 10 lbs just from switching to diet?! I drink 3-4 sodas per day!! I know, that's bad. Recently, I thought it would be a good idea to buy cans of Minute Maid juice to drink on the way to work (during my 2 minute commute) instead of a Dr. Pepper, and I was surprised when I looked on the back of the can and saw that it's just as bad as soda. So I made the switch back to DP! HA! I tried Slim Fast for breakfast, but "I" sure didn't slim fast. Maybe I should go back to that anyway. But diet coke makes me vomit. Is it ok to start a sentence with "but" in a blog comment? Kelly, you really need to post a blog for us newbies that teaches the proper etiquette for blogging.

Have you tried Diet DP - it is just as good as regular - just TRY it for a couple days! I swear Jeff even drinks it now and we both can't stand regular now. I promise you will lose weight if you are drinking that many a day.

Good stuff! I love Apprentice although I am not a sophisticated businessman like your self I do like the show! Get me in your fantasy football league! I trust you with my Godfather DVD's - you have no idea about my trust issues with my DVD's! I am trying to prove to myself that I am grown up enough to do this. Don't let my optimistic side down! Hockey - killing me! I agree with the need for a salary cap! The NFL does well with it, Patriots have still been able to dominate when the experts said a salary cap would kill the possibilites of dynastys! MLB - take the hint! I miss hockey with all my heart but if it takes this year off to get it right I'll be happy. I'm scared it could go on longer but I bet someone - Players, buckle soon.

you are a blog slacker. It is about time you have a new post don't you think!

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'll give you my reasons why I haven't posted a new blog. One, I was waiting for maybe some discussion on the Apprentice. Two, I was waiting for any blog voyeurs (you know who you are) to finally decide to maybe post a comment. Three, I said my next post would be about the partial privatization of social security, and I'm deciding how to do that. I've done some research and some thinking, and I have been putting together my thoughts in a Word document to copy and paste to a blog, but I'm about to begin page 3!! I really don't think anyone would read that much, so I'm trying to decide how to summarize it. Has anyone else thought about this issue, or am I just a geek? Nevermind, don't answer.

Jeff, I'll reserve a spot in the OFFL next year! D.Lasater took a year off, but we'll need someone else to join next year when he comes back to keep everything even. I'm not sure I agree with the salary cap, but I don't really have a good alternative in mind. The salary cap has lost pretty much all team loyalties. The game has become all about the money, with exception to a handful of players and teams. You almost need a PhD every year to keep up with all the offseason moves. The Patriots have won a lot, but I'm so tired of them. I know you like dynasties, but why can't it be Dallas again?! I think you're right about NHL...the opposing views between the league and players are as opposite as can be, and it may take more than a year to compromise. It really sucks. Why are my comments always so long?

Why the heck didn't you just make that all into a post - it was long enough!
